Main Street Dyersburg, TN– has been designated an Accredited Main Street America™ program for meeting rigorous performance standards.

Main Street America and its partners each year announce the Accredited programs to recognize their exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approach™.

“We are very proud to acknowledge this year’s 862 Accredited Main Street America programs and their steadfast dedication to nurturing economically and culturally vibrant downtown districts,” said Hannah White, Interim President & CEO of Main Street America. “The increase in the size and impact of our network speaks volumes to the power of the Main Street movement to respond to the needs of local communities and drive innovative solutions.”

Main Street Dyersburg’s performance is annually evaluated by Tennessee Main Street, which works in partnership with Main Street America to identify the local programs that meet rigorous national performance standards. To qualify for Accreditation status, communities must meet strict standards that include commitments to building grassroots revitalization programs, fostering strong public-private partnerships, nurturing economic opportunity for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and actively preserving historic places, spaces, and cultural assets.

In 2022, we estimated the attendance of all Festivals and events. Parades, etc., to be over 9,000. We want to thank our community for showing up and supporting our downtown community. These events take many volunteers, and we’d like to thank everyone for giving us your time & and talents. Thank you to the City of Dyersburg and Dyersburg Police for assisting in our events. In 2022, we recorded over 15,000 volunteer hours!

Also, in 2022, Main Street Dyersburg was honored to be chosen as an American Express 2022 Neighborhood Champion. Many downtown merchants were open late and offered various sales, drawings & and promotions. Amex provided signage, bags, stickers, banners, and posters to all equipped downtown merchants this year.

Main Street Dyersburg also participated in National Farmers Market Week. It is an annual celebration of farmers’ markets coordinated by the Farmers Market Coalition. This membership-based nonprofit organization supports farmers’ markets nationwide through training, technical assistance, and network-building. This year, the campaign is centered around the essential role that farmers’ market operators play in our local food systems and in developing resilience in communities as hubs for local economies and connections.

Each Saturday, we showcase many of our artisans demonstrating their craft, such as live chainsaw art, live music, sewing & more! During this time, market shoppers and supporters voted for their favorite market. In addition to recognizing the top markets in each region of America - We were honored to be voted 57th Nationwide | 3rd Tennessee | and 18th in the Southeast.

In addition to our annual parades, Christmas on the Square, and Downtown Easter Egg Hunt, our fall festival is another successful event at the market. The Fall Festival utilizes our facilities at the developing River Park on the Forked Deer River. Home to the Main Street Dyersburg Farmers Market, the River Park offers unlimited potential for festivals, car shows, walking trails, and multiple events simultaneously. The Fall Festival events included Reconnect with the River, local arts performances, live music, food, hot rods, antique cars, a Forked Deer River trail hike, pumpkin decorating, a farmers market, crafts, art, and so much more!

Executive director Brianna Roser states: “I’m excited to be a part of a community who will show up and support our downtown & local businesses. I’m eager for the future of Dyersburg and envision a vibrant destination for our historic downtown.”

“Our goal is to create a sense of place in downtown Dyersburg by using the master design plan and other resources to promote downtown as a place to live, work, shop and play” - Downtown Dyersburg Development Association president Joe Yates.
